Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (known by its acronym UPEIDA) was set up by the State Government under U.P. Industrial Areas Development Act 1976, in December 2007 for development of Expressways in Uttar Pradesh. This is a young Organisation with lean employee base, (mostly young) on contract or on deputation from State Revenue department/PWD. Limited Technical and Revenue staff on deputation from GoUP department and rest.
The prestigious Agra-Lucknow Expressway, a flagship project of Government of U.P. undertaken by UPEIDA, is nearing completion in an unprecedented, much before its scheduled time of completion. A fast corridor connecting the State Capital with Agra and further to the National Capital.
This Expressway shall also catalyse development and setting up of Handlooms, Food Processing, Cold Storages, Warehousing and Milk based industries and will provide opportunities for setting up new Industrial Training Institutes, Educational Institutes, Medical Institutes and will help in establishment of New Satellite/Smart Cities.
Besides this Expressway Project, UPEIDA is also implementing another Access Controlled Expressway Project named the “Samajwadi Purvanchal Expressway Project” in EPC mode. This Expressway Project has been conceived as a critical high speed access controlled road infrastructure between Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the State Capital.
